Gordes

A city of artists

At the tip of the Vaucluse plateau, overlooking the plain of Cavaillon, the village of Gordes reflects its golden stone façades back to the sun. The terraced village is built at the foot of its Renaissance castle and is carved with narrow cobbled streets. Gordes earned its fame through the presence and inspiration of a number of artists, including Marc Chagall, Victor Vasarely and Pol Mara.
